PM Modi to convene all-party meet on 8th April through video conference
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called an all-party meeting to talk about the state of affairs emerging out of the Covid-19 on 8th April.
This is the first meeting of the Prime Minister with political parties on the outbreak of the dangerous coronavirus and comes days after the nation has been placed under a precautionary lockdown.
A letter from parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi stated that the leaders of the parties in legislative assembly which consist of more than five members in Parliament would be invited to take part in the meeting. While taking into account the norms for social distancing and travel restrictions, the meeting will be conducted via video conference.
A lot of opposition leaders have been asking for an all-party meeting with the Prime Minister on the Covid-19 outbreak that has shown extensive impact on different section of the society and mainly the nation’s economy.
In the meeting, government officials stated the the Prime Minister will sought recommendations from different parties on how to curb the deadly coronavirus. The meeting will get under way at 11 am with PM’s opening remark in which he will appraise the party leaders of the measures his government has taken thus far.
As stated by another official, the meeting will also be a chance to set up a broad political concurrence on India’s battle against the Pathogen.
Besides PM Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Pralhad Joshi and Thawar Chand Gehlot are also expected to be there.
PM Modi had on 24th March declared a nationwide lockdown in the world’s largest such assignment in a bid to curb the spread of SARS-CoV-2.
