Chhattisgarh Shocker: Groom killed as bride’s lover sent ‘home theatre bomb’, arrested
In a shocking incident, a newly-married man and his brother died after a wedding gift they received exploded in Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district on April 3.
Four other, including an 18-month-old boy, sustained injuries due to the explosion at the groom’s home.
According to the police, the home theatre system, that the groom received as a gift was planted with explosives and exploded as soon as it was plugged into the power socket, as reported by the BBC.
The explosion was so intense that the roof of the room collapsed, and the groom died on the spot. His brother succumbed to injuries during treatment at a hospital.
The police further stated that the ‘home theatre bomb’ was allegedly sent by the bride’s former lover, who was not happy with her marriage and wanted to teach her a lesson.
Police have arrested the man from Madhya Pradesh yesterday. The accused has been identified as 33-year-old Sarju Markam.
Police stated that Markam was in a relationship with the newly-married woman and had been insisting that she become his second wife. However, the women’s family was not ready for the relationship and arranged her marriage elsewhere.
