Residents of Bhopal’s Shahjahanabad held a unique protest on April 4 to remove liquor shops from their area.
Amid tensions between two communities in other states, Hindus along with Muslim people staged a peaceful protest in which they recited ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ and had a Roza Iftar in front of a liquor shop.
The people requested the liquor shop owners to remove their shops from their neighbourhood.
In the video shared by news agency ANI, people belonging to Hindu community could be seen reciting ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ in front of a liquor shop. Women protesters were seen with black ribbon on their heads as a sign of protest.

The protesters also showed placards and demanded dairy milk shops rather than liquor shops in their area. They also demanded the state government to take action against illegal liquor shops in their area.
This comes amid continuous tensions between two communities in parts of Bihar, West Bengal and Maharashtra after the Ram Navami rallies in recent days.
Clashes and arson were reported in Bihar Sharif and Sasaram on March 31 during the Ram Navami celebrations. Similar violence was also reported in West Bengal’s Hooghly and Maharashtra’s Sambhaji Nagar.
The state governments have beefed up security in the affected areas, and the situation is currently under control.
Yesterday, leaders of all political parties, along with stalwarts of all religious organizations and district administration, took out a Sadbhavna March in Bihar Sharif to give a message of harmony in the violence-affected areas.
