CBI crisis: CVC submits reports against CBI chief Alok Verma in sealed envelope; SC adjourns hearing till Friday

The Supreme Court has adjourned the matter in the CBI case to Friday as the CVC has submitted its report in the sealed envelope.

The Central Vigilance Commission submitted its probe report today in the inquiry it conducted on the Alok Verma and his alleged association under the corruption charges, alleged by Rakesh Asthana, the special director of the CBI.

The Supreme Court, had earlier, inducted an inquiry by the CVC under the supervision of retired Supreme Court judge and had asked the probing agency to submit the report within two weeks.

The government had sent both the director, Alok Verma and special director, Rakesh Asthana, on leave, until the inquiry in the matter gets completed and had made M Nageshwar Rao, the joint director as the acting director of the agency.

The case is related to complainant Satish Babu Sana, who is already a suspect in the Moin Qureshi bribery scandal, under whose statement the then CBI director Alok Verma had filed an FIR against his deputy Rakesh Asthana and made him the prime accused, along with other officials of the agency and the R&AW special director as well. Sana had claimed in his statement that he payed Rs 3 crore bribe to the special director and Rakesh Asthana has stated that he was in UK to hear the Vijay Mallya case, while the meeting to which Sana is claiming, happened in the corridors of India.

The Supeme Court will now hear the plea of director Aok Verma, as he was sent on leave by the government and the court will also scrutinize the probe report submitted by the CVC today in the sealed envelope.
