Telangana horror: Woman commits suicide after gang raped by four including policeman

In a horrifying incident coming in from Telangana’s Mahabubabad district, a 23 year-old woman committed suicide by consuming poison after alleging that she was gangraped by four people which included a police constable.

A writ petition was registered at the Nellikudur police station in Mahabubabad district on Wednesday. The plea alleged that on 16th February, the woman was gangraped when she had gone to her friend’s house for a night stay. The woman alleged that she was raped again when she visited the same friend on 17th February as well.

When the woman came back home on 18th February, her brother saw her taking poison at around 8 am. He right away rushed her to the area hospital in Mahabubabad.

The woman passed away on Tuesday, 22nd February, while receiving treatment. She alleged that she had taken poison because she was allegedly gangraped by four men on February 17 and 18.

On the basis of the contents in the petition, an FIR was lodged under Section 376(D), 306, 354(D) read with 34 of the IPC.

One of the accused has been identified as a police constable. Another accused is alleged to be the husband of a Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency member.

Police immediately took the alleged three suspects into their custody and efforts are being made to nab the fourth one. The victim’s body was sent for autopsy and the investigation is underway.
