Coronavirus: Centre releases list of 170 hotspot districts, all 6 metros, other major cities

A list of 170 hotspot districts was put out this evening by the central government, which incorporates all six metros and most big cities. The list flagged 123 districts as ‘large outbreaks’ - which consist of all nine districts of Delhi. Parts of Mumbai, Kolkota, Bengaluru Urban, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur and Agra were too on the listing.

A hot spot categorization would be districts or cities being conducive to more than 80% of the cases in the country or the state. Sites that exhibit a high ratio of infection—multiplying rate less than 4 days – will as well be in this bracket.

All six metropolitan regions – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangaluru and Hyderabad – at the moment have a high number of cases.

Mumbai alone has 1,896 cases today – more than half of the Maharashtra record 2,916. Delhi has a total of 1,561 cases. Out of these, 30 patients recuperated an 30 lost their lives. For the entire hotspots, the state government have been mandated with ensuring that the disease be curbed. If no new outbreaks are reported inside 28 days and all the prevailing cases recover, the are can be declared a green zone, the government said.

For a coordinated push against the virus in red zone, the government stated that there should be special team to perform door to door examination and tests. The tests will not only be for coronavirus. Patients of influenza linked illness and SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Illness), will to be tested, because such patients have in many cases tested positive of Covid-19.
