In the middle of the outcry over a gang-rape of a Mysuru’s college girl, a shocking incident of crime has come to the fore from Tamil Nadu’s Chennai, where two women, allegedly allowed a shopkeeper to rape their minor daughters and record videos of the crime as payment for the goods they bought from his shop.
The shopkeeper being discussed even raped and filmed three friends of the sister duo’s daughters.
The matter came to light after the police made a raid on the store of the shopkeeper, identified as Perumal, aged 48, following a piece of info that he had stowed banned tobacco products there. In the time of the raid, a bag of tobacco items and the shopkeeper’s mobile phone was confiscated by the cops.
The police were shocked when they went through the shopkeeper’s phone, which was confiscated to acquire details of dealers of tobacco items. In the mobile phone’s photo gallery, they found nearly 50 videos of kids being sexually assaulted by a man.
The cops, at first, thought that the shopkeeper had downloaded child pornographic content. However, later, it was concluded that the man seen in the clips was Perumal. Later, Perumal was taken into police custody. During interrogation, he told the cops that he had been sexually assaulting the five minors for about six months, according to a report by The TOI.
Police learnt about the two sister, aged 30 and 28, were also incriminated in the crime. The duo have also been taken into police custody. One of them was having a love affair with the shopkeeper.
They allowed him to sexually assault their minor daughters and shoot videos of the crime as payment for the things they bought from his shop. The children’s three friends who had come to their house to play were also repeatedly raped by the shopkeeper.
“These three children were too young to tell their parents what was happening. It is a shocking case. If the inspector had not checked his mobile phone, the case wouldn’t have come to light and the man would have abused more children,” deputy commissioner Karthikeyan said.
