Bihar shocker: Woman found living with lover while husband served jail term for her murder
In what is being suspected to be a case of a love triangle, a woman who was pronounced dead in Bihar’s Motihari district was discovered living with her paramour in Jalandhar. What is even more shocking is that her husband was serving jail term for her alleged 'murder'.
The woman, named Shanti Devi, tied the knot with Dinesh Ram, a native of Laxmipur, on June 14, 2016. Years following the marriage, Shanti allegedly fled from her husband's house on April 19 and went to live with her lover in Punjab.
After the woman went missing, her family members approached the police and accused the husband of dowry harassment and also alleged that he had killed her. Responding to the complaint of the victim's kin, police took Dinesh into their custody and was sent to jail on murder charges.
The woman’s father, identified as Yogendra Yadav, had told police, "My daughter married Dinesh Ram in 2016 but on April 19, I received information that she was nowhere to be found. I went to her in-laws' house and checked but in vain. Last year, my daughter was tortured for dowry as her in-laws had demanded a motorbike and Rs 50,000 cash."
He then registered an FIR against Dinesh, after which he was apprehended.
However, things took an interesting twist when the Station House Officer smelled a rat and urged the technical team to trace the mobile phone location of Shanti. With the help of technical surveillance, police discovered that the woman, who was pronounced dead, was actually living with her paramour in Punjab’s Jalandhar district.
A police team was commissioned after the matter came to the surface and the woman was brought back to Motihari.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
