Donald Trump India visit: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia are not in 'guests' list for Melania Trump event
Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his second in command Manish Sisodia will not be part of an event next week when US First Lady Melania Trump is expected to watch a ‘happiness class’ at a Delhi government school, AAP sources said.
Party sources claimed that Arvind Kejriwal’s and Sisodia’s names were dropped from the event by the centre.
As per the previous plan, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were scheduled to receive Melania Trump at the south Delhi government school. The US First Lady will visit the school as a special guest on Tuesday, she is also expected to spend some time with the students in an hour-long visit.
The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that it was the centre’s plan to drop the two leaders form the event.
It was Manish Sisodia who had initiated the happiness programme two years ago in a bid to reduce stress among school children. The curriculum includes 40 minutes of meditation, relaxing and even outdoor activities.
Melania Trump’s solo visit will happen at a time when Presidet Trump will hold talks with PM Modi, said sources.
The encompassing of a Delhi government school in the high-profile visit is spellbinding, taking into account the ugly spat during the election campaign in the national capital over the BJP sharing videos that they said ‘exposed’ the poor conditions of schools managed by the state government.
The Trumps will commence their two-day visit on Monday in Ahmedabad, the largest city in PM Modi's home state Gujarat. They will fly to Delhi later that night.
