Maharashtra Police Recruitment 2020: Over 12,500 Constable vacancies to be released soon; here’s what Cabinet said

Good news for aspirants who want to join Maharastra police as on Wednesday Maharashtra cabinet gave its green signal to fill up over 12,500 vacancies for the post of a police constable in the state, HT reports said.

“In view of the Supreme Court’s recent interim order staying implementation of 2018 law that granted reservation to the Maratha community in education and jobs, the state cabinet directed the home department to take steps regarding the recruitment process in consultation with the law and judiciary department, the Chief Minister’s Officer (CMO) said in its statement.

Earlier in 2019, a total of 5,297 vacancies were announced to fill for the post of police constable while in 2020, 6726 were expected to fill.

Also for the newly-created Mira Bhayandar and Vasai- Virar police commissionerates, 505 posts to be filled out of the 975 vacancies in the first phase, the statement said.
According to PTI, all the 12,528 posts will be filled now.

The cabinet also gave its go-ahead to the extension of the Balasaheb Thackeray Road Accident Insurance Scheme in the state.

For this scheme, funds would be provided to the State Health Guarantee. Insurance companies will be selected through the due procedure.

According to the CMO’s statement, beneficiaries would be victims of road accidents irrespective of the region.

The accident victim will also be provided the medical aid and financial assistance during the ‘golden hour’ (the first hour after a traumatic injury when the emergency treatment of the victim is very crucial).

As per the statement, every year, 13,000 people are killed in the road accident on the state highways and rural areas. While 40,000 people are injured.

“If these people got medical aid quickly, their lives could have been saved,” it added.

Under this insurance scheme, the accident victim will be treated at the nearest hospital for the first 72 hours.

Medical expenses of Rs 30,000 will be free of cost for the victim for 74 kinds of medical treatment.

However, accidents taking place in industrial units, day-to-day work, or at residence will not be counted under this scheme, the statement further clarified.
