Watch: Virat Kohli bursts into laughter while taking Jasprit Bumrah's interview, here's why
On Saturday, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah created history as he became the third Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in Test cricket. After the match, Indian skipper Virat Kohli interviewed Jasprit Bumrah and he couldn’t stop laughing when the Mumbai Indians bowler credited him for the hat-trick.
The Indian pacer acknowledged Virat Kohli’s role and told him that he owed the hat-trick to him. The hat-trick would not have been possible if Virat Kohli had not review the decision. The umpire didn’t dismiss Roston Chase and Virat Kohli decided to challenge the appeal which came in their favour.
“I was not very sure of the appeal. I thought it was bat. So, I didn't appeal so much but it was a good review in the end. So, I think I owe that hat-trick to the captain,” Bumrah told Virat Kohli, in a video posted by the BCCI on Twitter.
Jasprit Bumrah became the third Indian bowler to take a hat-trick after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan who did it against Australia and Pakistan respectively. Bumrah hat-trick was the 44th in Test cricket and first after Moeen Ali against South Africa in 2017.
India scored 416 runs at the end of their first innings with the help of Hanuma Vihari’s century and Ishant Sharma’s half-century. West Indies managed to score just 87 runs at loss of 7 wickets and are trailing behind by 329 runs.
