Watch: New Zealand batsman Neil Broom stuns everyone with quirky lofted shot
New Zealand and Otogo batsman, Neil Broom knocked his ninth List A hundred while playing against Wellington in the Ford Trophy on Friday.
The 36 year old struck 13 boundaries on the way to his century to help Otago cricket team secure 2 runs win over Wellington. In the process, Neil Broom astounded everyone when he lofted a short delivery over the wicket-keeper for a four.
Wellington captain Hamish Bennett delivered a slow bouncer but Broom managed to direct the ball towards the fence for a boundary. Otago cricket took to their official twitter handle to share the clip of Broom’s prowess with the bat.
"Seen anything like this before? Neil Broom used every part of the ground to reach his 112 against the @wgtnfirebirds," the video was captioned.
In the match, Otago decided to take the crease after winning the toss. Steering on Neil Broom’s century and Mitch Renwick’s fifty, Otago put up a total of 262/6.
In response, Wellington got off the wrong foot as they lost their opening pair with just two runs on the board.
Wellington were 4/46 when Malcom Nofal (87) and Devon Conway (70) strived to gain some control over the game with a stand of 64 runs for the fifth wicket.
Once Otago managed to dismiss Conway, they started giving away easy wickets. With three runs required from the last three balls, Malcom Nofal failed to make headway and was run-out.
