Virender Sehwag slams Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya during West Indies clash
Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag slammed Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya over their defensive approach in World Cup 2019. Virender’s accused Kohli, Dhoni and Pandya of playing slow against spinners.
Virender took to his official Twitter handle to slam the Indian batting trio as he wrote, “Rashid Khan had gone for 25 in 4 overs, gave away only 13 in his next 6 and today Fabian Allen had given 34 in 5 overs, only 18 in next 5. Can't be so defensive against the spinners.”
MS Dhoni scored 9 runs off 19 balls, Virat Kohli scored 8 runs in 9 balls and Hardik Pandya scored 1 run in 2 balls against Allen in the period Virender Sehwag has pointed out as the problematic part of India's innings.
No Indian batsmen were dismissed by a spinner in World Cup 2019 until the Afghanistan match. The formidable spin attack of Afghanistan tore apart the Indian batting line-up. MS Dhoni was criticised for playing a slow inning against Afghanistan. Sachin Tendulkar also slammed Dhoni for his inning and slow partnership with Kedar Jadhav.
MS Dhoni started very slow against West Indies too and got a few lives here and there before scoring 56 off 61 balls. India scored 268-7 in 50 overs and has put pressure on the West Indies by taking 5 wickets in 25 overs.
