Virat Kohli unleashes fury into stump mic after DRS Controversy [Watch]
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli expressed his disappointment into the stump mic over a DRS decision on Day 3 of the third Test at Newlands, Cape Town.
During the 21st over of South Africa’s second innings, Dean Elgar was given out LBW by the on-field umpire but Elgar reviewed the call. Replays displayed that the ball hit Elgar just below the knee, but hawk-eye showed that it was passing over the stumps.
The umpire’s call enraged the Indian players, skipper Virat Kohli in particular.
Virat Kolhi went upto the stump mic and expressed is displeasure. Other Indian players such as KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin were also heard expressing their frustration.
"Focus on your team as well when they shine the ball.. and not just the opposition, trying to catch people all the time."
"Whole country playing against XI guys," KL Rahul could be heard saying.
Indian sipnner Ravichandran Ashwin did not shy away either and attacked the broadcaster.
With emotions kicking in the Indian side, Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen capitalized on the situation and scored quickly in the next six overs to cut the deficit.
However, India struck at the stroke of stumps on Day 3, with Jasprit Bumrah dismissing Elgar. At the end of the day's play, the host were 101/2, needing 111 more to win.
With the series tied 1-1, both the heavyweights are eager for a win. A win in the third Test will give India their first ever Test series victory on South Africa soil.
