Virat Kohli shares heart-warming video before leaving for West Indies tour
India’s ICC World Cup campaign had a dismaying end after the Men in Blue were defeated by New Zealand in the semi final. Team India is now looking for a fresh start, starting from upcoming tour of the West Indies, where the Indian team will go head to head with the caribbean side in a multi-format series. Before leaving for Florida where the first two T20Is will take place, Virat Kohli shared a surreal experience.
Indian skipper took to his official Instagram account to share a clip of a massive crowd that congregated to see Virat Kohli in Mumbai before the team left for West Indies tour. The Men in Bule will play the first two T20Is of the three match series in Florida, In a bid to promote cricket in USA. Both the teams will then fly to the caribbean to finish the T20I series and start off with the ODIs and Test.
Regardless of all the reprovals over his captaincy, Virat Kohli’s popularity remains intact as the Indian skipper continues to set new benchmarks for other athletes.
Following team India’s performance in the quadrennial event there has been a lot of scrutiny. While there were calls to hand over te limited overs captaincy to Rohit Sharma, the BCCI decided to keep hold of Virat Kohli as the captain across all formats. Many reports suggested that there is a rift between Kohli and Rohit because of some decisions taken in the semi final against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2019. However, speaking at a pre-departure press conference, Kohli rebuffed all the claims pertaining to rift between him and Rohit.
"We wouldn't have had the kind of performances we've had if the dressing room atmosphere wasn't a good one. The kind of performances we've had is only possible due to the camaraderie, trust and understanding in our team," Kohli said.
"In my opinion, it's baffling and ridiculous to read such stuff. Public talks about how well we've played, and here we're feeding lies and talking about negative things. It's bizarre how people are creating these things. You enter the dressing room and witness for yourself the kind of healthy atmosphere that's there. The lies are made to look believable. We are living and breathing in getting Team India to the top, and here some people are doing there best to bring us down. The friendship and camaraderie are there for everyone to see," Kohli added.
India will take part in three T20Is as many ODIs and two Tests against the West Indies. The first T20I is scheduled to be played on August 3 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida.
