Virat Kohli met Queen Elizabeth: The real 'Crown Cricket ka Madam ji' moment witnessed
Virat Kohli will lead the Indian contingent for the first time in a 50-over World Cup ever since he took the reign of captaincy from MS Dhoni. Indian skipper Virat Kohli along with nine other captains met England’s Queen Elizabeth before the start of the tournament.
The official Twitter handle of the Royal Family shared the picture from the ceremony. The post was captioned, “Captains including @Eoin16 and @imVkohli met Her Majesty and His Royal Highness before joining a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.”
The picture is being compared to the campaign launched by the official Indian broadcaster of the ICC World Cup, Star Sports. The hilarious advertisement is backed by a song ‘crown cricket ka madam ji hum le jayenge’ featuring supporters from every nation hiding their jersey inside the suit.
In the video, the supporters are fighting for the cup with an actor portraying Queen Elizabeth watching in dismay. Two follow-up advertisement has come out after the success of the advertisement with one of them featuring former Indian captain MS Dhoni.
The World Cup 2019 will begin on May 30, with host England and South Africa playing the first game of the tournament. The World Cup will be contested in a round-robin format where each team will play nine games against every other team before the start of the playoffs.
India will start their campaign against South Africa on June 5 and will play Australia and New Zealand before meeting their arch-rival Pakistan on June 16.
