Rohit Sharma on the verge of surpassing MS Dhoni's milestone

Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma is on the brink of attaining another milestone on Sunday when he leads the national side in the first game of the three-match T20 seires at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as the opener will become the most capped Indian T20 player after MS Dhoni.

The 32 year old has featured in 98 T20s since making his debut in 2007 and will surpass MS Dhoni’s total of 98 T20s for India.

Simultaneously, Rohit Sharma will move to the third spot on the list of most T20I appearances after Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi.

At the same time, Rohit Sharma could also shatter Virat Kohli’s feat of most runs in T20I cricket. Rohit is currently seven runs behind Kohli’s tally.

Rohit Sharma had earlier captained India in the Asia Cup last year when Virat Kohli was rested.

Talking on the eve of the match on Saturday, Rohit stated: "My job as a captain is very simple -- I just want to take the team forward from where Virat has left the team.

"What I have done at the limited opportunities that I have got is to maintain what Virat has done previously with the team. I am just trying to carry that forward."
