MS Dhoni will be a big player in World Cup 2019, says India coach Ravi Shastri
MS Dhoni’s abilities to read the game and guide bowlers from behind the stumps makes him an asset for Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his team. Dhoni is one of the finest wicket-keeper batsmen India has ever seen. Virat Kohli and team India coach addressed a press conference yesterday before leaving for England and both of them had just good things to say about the former captain.
Coach Ravi Shastri said, “MS Dhoni's role will be massive. His communication with Virat has been fantastic. As a keeper, he has shown there is no one better than him. He will be a big player in this World Cup.” MS Dhoni is the main wicket-keeper batsman for team India in the World Cup.
MS Dhoni will play his fourth World Cup and it is speculated that this might be his last one as the Chennai Super Kings skipper is already 37-year old. Dhoni’s strike rate had gone down in the last few years and he was not able to score runs fluently and consistently. Critics started writing him off but Dhoni came back stronger as scored three consecutive match winning fifties in an ODI series against Australia. Dhoni was also the highest run scorer for Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League 2019.
The World Cup 2019 will start from May 30 and India will play their first match on June 5. India will play two warm-up matches before they start their World Cup campaign against South Africa.
