MS Dhoni trolled after playing slow innings against Afghanistan; see tweets
India is playing their fifth match against Afghanistan today and the Indian batsmen failed to put up a show as they failed to cross the 250-run mark. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni faced a lot of criticism for playing a slow inning in Southampton.
Dhoni played a knock of 28 runs off 52 deliveries and Indian fans were quick to notice and troll the wicket-keeper batsman. Dhoni was dismissed by Rashid Khan in the 45th over and to everyone’s shock ‘captain cool’ was stumped by Afghanistan’s wicket-keeper Ikram Ali Khil. Interestingly this was the second time when Dhoni was stumped in an ODI match, the first time he was stumped was back in 2011World Cup match against West Indies.
Some fans even demanded Rishabh Pant should replace MS Dhoni as one user tweeted, “I hope Afghanistan wins so that there will be more pressure on Kohli to replace Dhoni by Pant.”Another user wrote, “India deserve to lose. Next match Dhoni should sit and Rishabh should be in the team.”
However, Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav notched up an important partnership of 60 runs for India at a crucial stage. Kedar Jadhav also played a slow inning but was better than Dhoni and also scored his first World Cup fifty. India set a target of 225 runs with skipper Virat Kohli chipping in against as he scored 67 runs off 63 balls.
