India’s World Cup winning skipper is presently in Kashmir serving the Indian Army, MS Dhoni, who is Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, is currently on duty with the 106 TA Batallion (Para) of the Indian Army in Kashmir. He has taken a two month break from cricket to serve in the army and will be staying in Kashmir till August 15th.
MS Dhoni fans are keeping a close tab on what their much loved cricketer is upto on the valley which has been the nest for militancy for decades now. The unrest in the valley escalated to newer heights after the government’s decision to scrap Article 370 which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
But Dhoni, who has always been keen when it comes to serving in nation, has put up a brave face to serve his motherland. He was recently spotted playing volleyball with the other soldiers in Kashmir.
Although, most of the fans have applauded MS Dhoni’s decision, it seems like some people in Kashmir are not his fans. MS Dhoni was in Baramulla when some locals manifested their displeasure. As soon as they saw MSD, they started chanting the name of Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi.
MS Dhoni is likely to make return soon in international cricket, team India are more than likely to recall Dhoni whe they host South Africa in September. The Men in Blue will play three T20Is against South Africa and as many Tests.
MS Dhoni, not long ago faced a lot of criticism after his slow knocks in the World Cup. Although MSD continued to score runs, it was his strike rate that made things worse for him. But despite the criticism, the team management has once again displayed their support for MSD.
