Kieron Pollard fined 20 percent of his match fee for disobeying umpire in T20I against India

West Indies all rounder Kieron Pollard has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee and handed one demirit points for disobeying the unpire during the second T20 match against India in Florida.

The incident happened during the Indian innings, when, as per the ICC’s statement, Kieron Pollard “called a substitute onto the field despite having been repeatedly told by the umpires that a request must be made for a substitute to come onto the field and being advised to wait untill the end of the next over and he failed to follow the umpire’s instruction”.

After being found guilty by the on field umpires, Nigel Duguid and Gregory Braithwaite, the third umpire Leslie Reifer and fourth official Patrick Gustard, Kieron Pollard denied his wrongdoing and entailed a formal hearing with match official Jeff Crowe, who found him guilty and handed out the sanctions.

Kieron Pollard didn’t bowl in the game but scored eight runs and remained not out as West Indies scored 98 for 4 in 15.3 overs after the Men in Blue had projected 167/5, which meant a 22 run victory for India through DLS method, giving India the three match series 2-0 with one game still to play.

Pollard had a better game in his first match of the series in Florida, his first game for the Windies since November 2018, where his amassed 49 runs in 49 deliveries.

The final T20 match of the series will be played in Guyana’s Providence Stadium later this evening.
