Indian pacer Navdeep Saini fined for violating ICC's code of conduct

Indian pacer Navdeep Saini received an official warning from the ICC after he was found culpable in violation of the Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20I against West Indies on Saturday.

After Navdeep Saini dismissed Nicholas Pooran in the fourth over of the innings, as per the ICC’s press release, the manner in which he celebrated the dismissal has found to have violated Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which pertains to using action or gesture which could provoke the batsmen upon their dismissal. He has also been given a demerit point.

The 26 year old admitted to the fault and accepted the sanction proposed by match umpire Jeff Crowe, hence, there was no need for formal hearing.

Navdeep Saini had a dream debut, as he claimed three wickets and gave away only 17 runs in his four overs spell and also bowled a wicket maiden in the final over as India restricted the Windies to 95 for 9 off stipulated 20 overs.

Team India also had their ups and downs while chasing the target, but eventually managed to get there with 16 balls to spare.

Navdeep Saini was named the Man of the Match after his brilliant performance as he troubled the Windies batting line-up throughout the match on a tricky pitch.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar figured that Navdeep Saini would be dangerous on good bowling pitch.

"He [Saini] bowls really quick and the wicket was a bit slow but he's a quick bowler, he bowls around 145-150kmh. So we'll get to see him bowl really quick on good bowling wickets," Bhuvneshwar said.
