IPL 2018: Has Rishab Pant confirmed his seat for World Cup 2019?
Delhi Daredevils' fortunes seem to have changed since Gautam Gambhir stepped down and Shreyas Iyer took over him as DD's skipper. However, one player who has been performing equally well under Gautam's command or Iyer's is Rishab Pant. He has been the mainstay for Delhi's batting lineup. He has hit two half-centuries so far in the ongoing IPL season. Pant has been consistently contributing to the team's initial scoring efforts.
In Wednesday's match against Rajasthan Royals, the left-hander smashed a 69 run knock off just 29 balls to steer his team to a huge total and eventually a win.
Post his sensational knock against the Rajasthan Royals, he was asked if these great performances would confirm him a berth in the national team, Pant said, "I am not thinking about that. I am just playing IPL right now, just trying it do well in every game for the side."
Pant said that his team has finally overcome the mistakes they were committing so far and we have jumped off from the last spot to the 6th and have succeeded in remaining in the race to the playoffs.
"We were batting brilliantly in all the games but small mistakes (happened) on our part, that was not going our way, we are making sure it does not happen."
Pant is presently batting at 4th position and has been supported well by young Prithvi Shaw and the newly appointed DD skipper Shreyas Iyer both of whom have been batting brilliantly.
Speaking of Shaw's impressive batting, Pant said, "He was a brilliant kid from day one but he was not getting his chance. When he got the chance, he capitalised on those."
