ICC fails to protect the outfield in World Cup, while BCCI covers the whole stadium during IPL matches
World Cup 2019 has seen the highest number of matches being abandoned due to rain and fans are not liking it at all. India versus New Zealand was yet another match in this World Cup which was washed away due to rain. Fans in India were waiting eagerly to see some action but after a 5-hour long wait, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the match is abandoned.
Both India and New Zealand were awarded one point each without even stepping out on the field. But the big question is that why was ICC not prepared even after knowing that England is prone to unpredictable rains? The rain was not the problem today but the outfield was wet and due to which the match had to be called off. The Trent Bridge cricket stadium was not equipped with enough tarpaulin to cover the entire field before the rain.
Cricket pundits are comparing the situation with the Indian Premier League where the entire stadium was covered with tarpaulin at the time of rain. Some said that when BCCI can do it for a T20 league like IPL, why can’t ICC be prepared for a tournament like the World Cup?
The ICC is facing a lot of criticism over its lack of preparation before the World Cup. Five matches have been affected by rain so far out of which one was completed through the DLS method.
