Watch: David Warner gives away his man of the match award to a young fan
David Warner scored a fluent century against Pakistan in Australia’s fourth World Cup match on Wednesday. David scored 107 runs off just 111 balls after he was criticised for playing slow against India, where he scored a half-century.
Warner won the man of the match award for his brilliant performance with the bat but that was not just it. David won hearts after he gave away the award to his young Australian fan. The official Twitter handle of Cricket World Cup posted the video online and captioned it, “David Warner made this young Australia fan's day by giving him his Player of the Match award after the game. Wonderful gesture. #SpiritOfCricket #CWC19.”
Australia won the match against Pakistan by 41 runs, besides David Warner, Australian captain Aaron Finch scored 82 off 84 balls before he was dismissed by Mohammad Amir. Steve Smith couldn’t impact the game with his batting as he was dismissed for just 10 runs. Mohammad Amir took his first five-wicket haul in ODI cricket.
In reply, Pakistan was losing wickets on regular intervals, opener Imam-ul-Haq scored a slow 53 off 75. Babar Azam was looking good before he was dismissed for just 30 runs. Mohammad Hafeez scored 46, skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed scored 40 but was run-out by Glenn Maxwell. Wahab Riaz at the lower end scored 45 off 39 but no one was able to complete the game for Pakistan.
