Here is what Indian skipper Mithali Raj has to say about Virat Kohli
The women's cricket team of India created a buzz on social media with their performance in the Women's World Cup 2017. The skipper of women's team Mithali Raj on Thursday praised Indian captain Virat Kohli for staying fit throughout the year.
While talking at an event in the CNN-News18 Indian of the Year 2017 event, Mithali Raj said that she has been playing cricket for a long time. And at the time women's cricket was not appreciated and now she is happy that the female player of this generation is getting recognition for their performance.
"It feels great that all of them are getting their due, and that people are finally recognizing them," Mithali said.
"I've come so far playing cricket in an era where it was not really appreciated, and responding to trolls is not really worth my time," Mithali further added.
"There are so many people who inspire me every day, not one person. But if I do have to name someone, it's got to be Virat Kohli, for bringing the focus on fitness. Be it the men or women, everyone wants to be the best in international cricket," the skipper added.
The Indian women's team led by Mithali Raj had shown an exceptionally good performance in the Women's World Cup 2017. Even though the India squad had lost the final of WC to England by 9 runs, yet the team managed to win the heart of thousands of Indians. Mithali was also named as the most influential women in India by BBC. The Indian skipper is the only female player who has scored more than 6000 runs in the One Day Internationals.
