Bad news for India before World Cup warm-up match, key player injured during practice

Team India is facing another worry ahead of World Cup 2019 as their key all-rounder Vijay Shankar is injured during a practice session before their warm-up match against New Zealand. Vijay was hit on the forearm while attempting a pull shot against Khaleel Ahmed and left the practice session mid-way.

Another all-rounder Kedar Jadhav was injured during an Indian Premier League match. Kedar was immediately ruled out of the tournament keeping World Cup in mind. The incident took place during the last league stage match between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab.

India will play a warm-up match against New Zealand today as it is going to be a practice for both the teams. India will also play against Bangladesh on May 28 before starting their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5. Virat Kohli and his team are going as everyone’s favorite along with host England, Australia and Pakistan.

India has won two World Cups before, once in 1982 under Kapil Dev’s captaincy and another with MS Dhoni in 2011. Virat Kohli was also part of the team which won the 2011 world cup. This tournament will be Kohli’s first as a captain and it will be interesting to see if he can win another cup as a captain. He won the 2008 U-19 World Cup in Malaysia while leading the team.
