Assam's pride Hima Das wins five gold for India in a month
Indian sprinter Hima Das won her fifth gold of the month in a 400m competition and timed her season-best of 52.09 seconds on Saturday. The timing is slower than her personal best 50.79 seconds, which she timed at Asian Games that was held in Jakarta, Indonesia last year.
It was Hima’s fifth gold since July 2 when she ran her first race in Europe. On July 2, she won her first 200m race of the year in Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland where she timed 23.65 seconds.
On July 7, Hima won her second gold in another 200m race at the Kutno Athletics Meet, also in Poland. She timed the clock at 23.97 seconds.
Hima won her third gold at Kladno Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic on July 13. She ran her third 200m race and timed it at 23.43 seconds.
On July 17, Hima Das won her fourth gold of the season at the Tabor Athletics Meet, also in the Czech Republic.
And Yesterday her fifth gold of the season came when she ran her first 400m race in Europe. The 19-year old Hima Das is the pride of Assam and is fondly called the ‘Dhing Express’ in the 400m race.
