This MP expelled by Bangladesh Open University after committing crime during exam
Cheating during examination is the biggest crime as it could finish one’s career too. A case of malpractice during examination has come to light from Bangladesh where a politician has been expelled from Bangladesh Open University (BOU), BBC reports citing college officials.
Tamanna Nusrat, an MP for the Awami League of Bangladesh had reportedly enrolled in BOU in Bachelor of Arts course.
According to the reports of BBC, the politician was expelled from the varsity after being accused of hiring eight proxies to sit for her exams. Reportedly, she hired a lookalike for doing unfair means during exams.
Even, a private television channel Nagorik TV has confronted one of the alleged proxies during an examination that was being held in the Narsingdi Government College center. Interestingly, the video of the incident went viral. The case against Tamanna Nusrat emerged soon after, BBC said in its report.
Surprisingly, 13 examinations have been conducted by the varsity but Nusrat didn’t appear for the exam for a single time, Nagorik TV reports said.
Professor MA Mannan, Vice-Chancellor of BOU also told The Guardian,
“We expelled her because she has committed a crime. A crime is a crime. We have canceled her enrolment. She will never be able to get admitted here again.”
"The proxy students were protected by the MP's musclemen when they sat for the tests. Everybody knew it but nobody uttered a word because she is from a very influential family," a college official said.
Reportedly, cheating and leaking of question papers ahead of exam is a common thing in Bangladesh, prompting authorities frequently to cancel results.
