Crocodile spotted crossing street amid heavy flood in Maharashtra [WATCH]
Many districts of Maharashtra have been badly battered by the torrential downpour for days now. Landslides and floods caused by rain have resulted in deaths, loss of property and severe inundation of major streets. Videos display citizens stranded on the roofs of their houses as the water level continues to jump up on major roads connecting districts.
Sangli district of the state has been greatly hit by the heavy downpour, partially because of a massive rise in the water level of the adjoining river Krishna. The increase in the water level also resulted in a remarkable sighting in the area.
A video which has gone viral on social media shows a crocodile crossing one of the streets in Sangli and making its way into the river. The video posted by news agency ANI displays the reptilian from one side of the road to the other, ahead of vanishing into the murky waters.
The tweet along with the video clip established that the clip was recorded at Sangli. The caption read, “Maharashtra: A crocodile seen on the roads of Sangli district after the water level of Krishna river rose following heavy rainfall.”

Additionally to this scary glimpse, Singli has put up with extensive loses because of the downpour. The district’s Sangliwadi area specifically was battered by the floods. Visuals showed a lorry with water up to the driver’s cabin trapped in the flood.
Several locals were seen living on the roof as they waited for aid and rescue services. One more village in Sangli, Kasbedigraj, was inundated by the flood. Nontheless, many local residents were earlier moved out. Furthermore, a relief camp has also been made in the area.
The result of the rain grew to calamitous proportions also because of the increase in water level of the river Krishan and Warna river. Both the rivers are flowing above danger marks.
In view of the devastation, the Maharashtra government has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the families of those who lost their lives due to the rain. It will also pay the cost of treatment for those injured.
