Girl kidnapped, sexually assaulted and sold by ‘online friend'
In a horrifying incident, a 16-year-old girl from Delhi was allegedly abducted, sexually assaulted by a man who had befriended her via mobile application of social networking. The accused then sold the teenager to another man who wanted to tie the knot with her.
It appeared to be a never-ending saga of extreme physical, mental and emotional suffering for the victim, however the Delhi Police Crime Branch managed to save her from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district on Saturday, almost two months following her abduction. Her kidnapper, identified as Rajeev Garg, has been taken into police custody.
As maintained by the cops, the teenager had gone missing on 29th May. She went out of the house saying that she was going to meet a friend. She, however, never returned. Later, the police were called and investigations were launched to find the victim.
The investigating officers tracing the phone number the victim had communicated with recently. “We located one number in Delhi when the girl went missing and traced it to Itawah, Gwalior. Our team followed its movement and apprehended a man named Rajeev Garg from Bhind on Thursday. Garg led the police party to a house from where the victim was rescued,” a report by The Indian Express quoted DCP (Crime Branch), Monika Bhardwaj, as saying.
The girl, following her rescue, told the cops that she got in touch with Garg on a mobile application named Welike. He befriended her by pretending to be a girl. Soon after that, the victim blocked his account, but he went on contacting the girl from other numbers.
At his insistence, the victim agreed to see him. When she met him, he allegedly abducted the girl. After that, he sexually assaulted her and later sold her to another man, identified as Ram Mohan, for Rs 50,000. Mohan had bought her for marriage.
