India-Pakistan Tension: Pakistan plans to appoint NSA to revive the cold diplomatic ties with India

Days after Balakot airstrike, the Imran Khan-led Pakistan government is actively considering backchannel options to open talks with India, said official sources on Sunday. According to reports, Islamabad is likely to appoint a National Security Advisor to revive the cold diplomatic ties with India.

The relation between the two countries-- India and Pakistan turned sour after the February 14 Pulwama suicide attack, in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred.

According to Pakistani media reports a few names have been considered for being appointed as NSA, however, no final decision has yet been taken.

Notably, Imran Khan who assumed Prime Minister’s chair last year in August, he has repeatedly tried to reach India for the resumption of peace talks on all outstanding issues between the two countries. However, India has been clear with Pakistan that terrorism and dialogue will not go hand-in-hand.

As all is not well between Pakistan and India, the appointment of NSA is meant for reviving the backchannel diplomacy with. For which Islamabad is considering the appointment of a retired military officer as national security advisor or NSA.
