Google has topped in the list of the most trusted brand in India following Facebook. According to a report, people in India trust Google above then any internet aggregator. Facebook has secured the second rank though, in recent time, Facebook faced a lot of controversies related to data breach and serious issue like fake news.
TRA brand trust report states that “With 1.2 trillion searches per year, it (Google) has become the first port of call for all things on the Internet, whereas Facebook, ranked second in the list, has been steadily climbing the trust ladder over the years (ranked seventh in 2015, fourth in 2016 and third in 2017 BTR reports).” But it added that recent data breach in facebook can affect the people trust it may go down in the next survey.
Many Indian homegrown brands like Ola, Flipkart have also secured the ranking i.e. sixth and seventh respectively. Whereas Amazon has secured the third place and eBay has been ranked fourth.
Chandramouli said in a statement "Internet brands yet have much scope for disruption. Initially, Internet disrupted the traditional businesses, and now new models are threatening other Internet businesses with better and more efficient models,". He said further "Only the Internet brands with a prudent business model, one which focusses on brand trust along with profits and growth will survive the next couple of years,".
