Suckermouth Catfish
Suckermouth Catfish also known as pleco is a species of a fish which has developed the ability to switch to a hibernation-like mode.
This means the catfish can survive extreme dried conditions and survive under hardened mud for months until the rain arrives.
Additionally, this species of the fish can live upto 30 hours outside the water, if they store enough in their abdomens.
Notably, the air-breathing freshwater Suckermouth catfish is named after its specialised mouth that resembles a suction cup. It is native to northern South America and mostly found in muddy ponds.
