Videos of the Kota tribe celebrating their local festival in traditional way on New Year's Eve are going viral on the internet. The tribals celebrated the festival in the beautiful Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu.
In the videos, the tribal people can be seen performing their traditional dance around a massive bonfire while soothing instrumental folk music is played in the background. They can be seen wearing a white traditional dress while celebrating the festival.
The clips were shared on Twitter by IAS Supriya Sahu with a brief caption. In the caption Sahu informed that the Kotas are ancient inhabitants of Nilgiris.

Since being shared the clips have raked up 19,000 views and more than 500 likes. Twitter users filled the comment section with new year wishes thanking the IAS officer for sharing the video.
"A wonderful post. Tribals have largely preserved their religious & cultural norms and values. Their penchant for dance/ other creative activities, segregate them from other tribals,” a user wrote.
