The Supreme Court on 4 August disposed of the petition filed by the petitioner Akhil Bharat Krishi Goseva Sangh, whhic sought to stop illegal smuggling of cattle along Bangladesh and Nepal border.
The Central Government told the apex court that it had taken enough of steps and safeguards on the issue.
The Public Interest Litigation (PIL) stated that the smuggling of cattle across the border of Bangladesh has led to overall disruption of ecosystem and if the cattle wealth of country is depleted, then it shall also have adverse impact on nutrition of people including children in India.
