In a tragic incident, a two-and-a-half-year-old child died after falling into a pit dug by workers of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to install a water pipeline in Bengaluru’s Magadi.

The authorities had not put up any warning signs at the site to alert residents about the ongoing work, leading to the unfortunate incident.

The police have registered an FIR against the BWSSB engineer and contractor, and an investigation is underway.

The body of the girl will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem.

Further details are awaited.
