In the era of football legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Indian superstar Sunil Chettri earned a special place for himself.
The Indian football team skipper turns 34 today. Earlier, Football Delhi had announced Chhetri's birthday to be celebrated as Delhi’s Football Day.
He is India's most capped player with 101 games.
Sunil Chettri has played over 100 matches for the country and in the all-time international scorers list. Chettri is tied in second place with Lionel Messi and only behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
“They (Messi and Ronaldo) are my idols. They are class apart. I cannot be compared to them. I have done nothing of note compared to the standards they have set,” Chhetri has repeatedly said.
