A 23-year-old Muslim woman left in shock after one of her close friends asked her not to wear a hijab on her wedding day.
The reason behind this shocking request was the woman’s to-be husband’s family. Sharing her ordeal on Reddit’s AITA forum, the 23-year-old Muslim woman, who lives in the southern USA revealed that she recently visited her friend Sally’s engagement party and had enjoyed it a lot there.
However, she felt uncomfortable as the groom’s family was weirdly watching her.
"I spent most of my time hanging out with a few friends, while Sally's in-laws kept looking at me oddly from the side of their eye. I tried not to take it to heart, and I ignored it," she wrote on Reddit's AITA forum.
The Muslim woman further said that her friend Sally called her the next day and thanked her for attending her engagement party. She revealed that Sally was nervous to say something, therefore she asked her to say whatever she wants.

That’s when her friend admitted that her presence made her in-laws uncomfortable and as though they couldn’t freely talk with someone like her around
The 23-year-old woman further wrote, "I said sorry, her in-laws seem like blatant racists, but it’s not like I’m the one marrying them so if she likes them I hope she has a great wedding and I just won’t come. Now, Sally was expecting my help during the wedding, as I freelance as a makeup artist, so she asked if I can just take off my hijab for the wedding and do her makeup while not 'scaring' her in-laws."
On this behavior of her friend, she replied, “No way in f****** hell would I ever change myself or compromise my religion for a bunch strangers, and I won’t step foot near them as I’d hate to 'scare' them."
