‘PM Modi sent me Rs 5 lakh’: Man makes bizarre excuse after receiving credited funds wrongfully

A man in Khagaria district of Bihar received a sum of Rs 5.5 lakh in his bank account because of an error by a bank, however, the man refused to give back the amount, claiming the money "was sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi".

The Khagaria’s Gramin Bank had mistakenly sent the money to a man, identified as Ranjit Das, a resident of Bakhtiyarpur village which falls under the jurisdiction of Mansi police station, and regardless of several notices, Das refused to return the money, saying he had spent it.

"I was very happy when I received the money in March this year. I thought as Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised every one of depositing Rs 15 lakh in their bank account,I thought that it could be the first installment of it. I have spent all the money. Now, I did not have money in my bank account," Das, who has been taken into police custody said in a statement.

SHO of the Mansi police station, Deepak Kumar stated that: "We have arrested Ranjit Das on the complaint registered by the manager of the bank. Further investigation is on." IANS
