Couple hosted wedding ceremony amid lockdown; police dramatically stormed into function

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, people across the globe following social distancing and also staying at home to protect themselves from the pandemic infection. Amid such havoc, a couple in South Africa decided to tie the nuptial knot and hence, they hosted a wedding ceremony for at least 50 guests.

After the police came to know about their wedding, they dramatically stormed into the wedding of the couple named, Jabulani Zulu, 48, and his bride Nomthandazo Mkhize, 38, on Sunday with guns and interrupted the ceremony of the couple’s wedding. Police have arrested the groom and the bride, including 50 guests and a pastor, Daily Mail reported.


A police spokesman said the couple would be ‘spending their honeymoon under stringent bail conditions’.

The photos and videos of the incident were widely shared on social media and it took no time to get viral.

In the pictures, the police can be seen arresting the bride and the groom in their wedding costumes.

Apart from the couple, police had also taken guests and the priest in their custody. Later, the group was released on bail of Rs 1000 each (approximately Rs 4169) and was pressed charges while being presented in court on Monday.

Meanwhile, the three-week lockdown has been imposed across the country from March 27 in a bid to fight against the novel coronavirus.
