Bizarre! Man left bewildered after seeing his own grave in cemetery, blamed ex-wife for it

A man got disturbed by thinking that why his phone was not ringing for the past few months. The reason when he came to know left him bemused. He discovered his grave in a cemetery.

Alan Hattel from Forfar in Scotland announced that he is still alive after finding his headstone at a cemetery. He also understood why people are not contacting him for long because all were thinking that he was dead.

He alleged that the erection of his headstone in Newmonthill Cemetry in Forfar was done without his knowledge.

Now, he has cleared to everyone that he is alive. The 75-year-old man also spoken to Angus Council about the headstone. He is planning to hide the headstone that imprinted with his name.

"People think that I’m dead. My phone hasn’t rung for three or four months. I’ve been confused by it all but now I know why nobody has been calling," Hattel told The Courier.
"I don’t even want to be buried – I plan to be cremated," he said.

However, Hattel blamed his ex-wife for the headstone, from whom he got separated about 26 years ago. He claimed that his estranged wife had bought a piece of land and constructed the headstone which bears both their names. He said that her intention was that both of them should be buried together.

Hattel has two grown-up children with his ex-wife.

"I’ve never, ever said I wanted to be buried alongside my ex-wife. We’ve been separated 26 years and there’s no animosity but I’m struggling to take it all in," he said.

"To find out you have a gravestone in a cemetery while you are still alive isn't something that happens every day," he added.

One of the family members said that this is their family matter which should be solved privately.

Angus Council said that no information about the purchase of the plot of land could be disclosed as it was a confidential matter.
