Ukraine beauty queen joins military to fight against Russian invasion [Pics]

As Russia makes an attempt to invade the capital city of Kyiv, the citizens have joined in with security forces in a bid to resist the Russian forces. A beauty queen and former Miss Grand Ukraine, Anastasiia Lenna, has reportedly enlisted in the Ukrainian military to fight against the Russian incursion.

Taking to her social media handle, Anastasiia Lenna said she had answered the call to defend her country.

“Everyone who crosses the Ukrainian border with the intent to invade will be killed!” read a post on Saturday, along with a photo of armed troops blocking a roadway.

Anastasiia Lenna represented Ukraine in the Miss Grand International beauty contest in the year 2015.

In a different post shared on Instagram, Leena was seen posing with a gun in her hand.

Earlier, Ukrainian MP Kira Rudik shared a picture holding a gun. "I learn to use Kalashnikov and prepare to bear arms. It sounds surreal, as just a few days ago it would never come to my mind. Our #women will protect our soil the same way as our #men," Kira Rudik wrote.

Even the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, is said to be fighting the war, fighting side-by-side along with the Ukrainian soldiers. These are just few instances of civilians picking up guns and doing their duty of protecting their nation against Russian attack.
