US President Donald Trump friend Stanley Chera dies of coronavirus

Stanley I. Chera, a friend of US President Donald Trump and the prominent New York City real estate developer and Republican donor who co-founded Crown Acquisitions, died after contracting the novel coronavirus. He was in a coma and his health was getting deteriorated due to the protracted infection. He died at the age of 78.

The death Chera was confirmed by a source close to CNN Sunday.

As per media reports, Chera’s real estate career began when he started buying the retail buildings and later, he founded Crown Acquisitions.

Crown’s holdings included several iconic New York properties like Cartier Mansion and The St. Regis New York.

The White House official on Sunday confirmed the death of Stanley Chera. He was a good friend of US President Trump.

As per media reports, Trump also advised Chera to leave New York and travel to his summer home in New Jersey due to the surge in coronavirus cases in the county.

Chera also followed Trump’s advice but somehow he contracted COVID-19. He was transported to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in late March.

Chera’s wife, Frieda or Cookie, also contracted the novel coronavirus but has been recovered, according to a source close to the family.

'Stanley loved the chase,' Steve Witkoff, a known New York real estate investor and developer, told The Real Deal.

In New York, around 188,902 confirmed cases for COVID-19 have been recorded while the death toll climbed to 9,385.

While in US, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged past 5,54,000, as per the data from the Johns Hopkins University.
