TV host says he is gay; reveals in an emotional message on Instagram

A veteran British television presenter, Phillip Schofield, has revealed that he is gay. He announced this news in an emotional post on Instagram.

The 57-year-old ITV’s ‘This Morning’ presenter wrote: “You never know what's going on in someone's seemingly perfect life, what issues they are struggling with, or the state of their well-being -- and so you won't know what has been consuming me for the last few years."

"With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay.”

Schofield has been hosting This Morning show since 2002. However, he had married to Stephanie Lowe for nearly 27 years. The 56-year-old tv host said that the topic has caused “many heart-breaking conversations at home.”

He also requested people to be kind towards his family.

In an emotional interview with co-host Holly Willoughby, Schofield said, "This will probably all come as something of a surprise and I understand, but only by facing this, by being honest, can I hope to find peace in my mind and a way forward. Please be kind, especially to my family."
