Trump Admin backtracks to make space for Office of National Drug Control Policy
The White House has reportedly backtracked on its initial plans to almost eliminate the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
The White House had earlier planned to almost eliminate the office tasked with opioid abuse.
CNN reports that the previous proposed budget cut sought to cut near 94% of the $380 million dollar budget of the office.
Acting director Richard Baum explains that the new proposed budget supports $27.8 billion in drug control efforts.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that opioid overdoses have increased to epidemic levels and 25% of all drug overdose deaths were related to heroin in 2015.
