South Korea to produce missile interceptor to fight North Korea
South Korea to soon begin the mass-production of new missile interceptor code-named M-SAM to fight its neighbour North Korea.
According to the Yonhap News agency, a defence official earlier on Saturday said that the missile passed an operational security.
The prototype of the missile has been asserted fit for combat operations.
"The prototype of the M-SAM to intercept an enemy's ballistic missile was rated fit for combat operation by meeting all the requirements at a test early this month," the official said
The missile, which was initially scheduled to finish in August has been finished two months earlier.
The missile has the ability to fight the incoming missiles at an altitude of 20-40 kilometres.
The missile is said to be deployed by the end of 2019, and the implementation would take place by the early 2020s.
The missile would be at the centre of the Korea Air and Missile Defense System (KAMD) in order to combat the attacks by North Korea.
