Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu
After wrapping up his visit to the Muktinath temple, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Pashupatinath temple in Nepal's capital Kathmandu. He arrived at Kathmandu in an IAF chopper as he immediately embarked on to a visit to the Pashupatinath temple.
Prime Minister Modi was greeted by officials and several local leaders of Kathmandu. He offered prayers to the deity as priests made suitable arrangements for the same.
He further signed the visitor's book and was presented a miniature of the Pashupatinath temple by the authorities.
India shares a history with the Pashupatinath temple as in 2016 following the visit of the then president Pranab Mukherjee to Nepal. Under his aegis, the Government of India assisted in establishing the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Pashupatinath Dharamshala project.
Now Prime Minister Modi will depart for the Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu where he is scheduled to meet the Nepali Congress, former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', former foreign affairs minister Upendra Yadav and the members of Rashtriya Janata Party.He is scheduled to depart to return to India after receiving a civic reception in Kathmandu at Rashtriya Sabha Griha.
