Portugal charges 18 policemen over '2015 torture of black men'
The entire police force of the Alfragide Police Station, northwest of the Portuguese capital, involved in the 2015 detention of six men of African origin have been charged for the action.
According to the DW, all the 18 police officers would be going on trial.
The prosecutors stated that the officers would face trial over "torture and other cruel treatment".
In 2015, the police clashed with a few young black men, who had attempted to protest against another young man's arrest in a poor neighbourhood near the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
The black men were detained and tortured for 48 hours.
