Florida school shooting: Six times US citizens went all guns blazing in public

Florida leads the nation in 'conceal-carry permits' with more than 1.7 million permits. However, places like airports, schools, college campuses, polling places, detention center, courtroom and many other places come under the category of places where one can not go along with a weapon.

In the wake of mass shooting incidents which has been frequent in Florida, the lawmakers are considering to expand the 'conceal-carry permit', but there hasn’t been any suitable bill for it.

Even the Republican House Speaker Richard Corcoran came out in public in support of the expansion of this permit and specially focused on getting rid of gun-free zones in schools and military bases. He even questioned President Trump as to when would he would fulfill his election promise of getting rid of 'gun-free zones'.

The deadly gun rampage on Wednesday morning that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida which is nearly 50 Kilometers from the north of Miami. With 17 student's death and 16 other casualties. This incident has once again raised the eyeball as to when would the President get rid of 'gun-free-zone'.

Well, this isn't the first time that such a mass shootout has taken place, there have been more than 300 school shootouts since 2013. And 18 school shooting incidents so far this year, which cover primary schools to universities.

Virginia shooting-2007

On April 15, 2007, 32 students and teacher were gunned down and 17 others injured on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The mastermind behind the shootout was a 23-year-old English major at Blackburg- based Virginia Tech.

As per the record, Cho (accused) was born in South Korea and moved to America along with his family in the year 1992.

The motive behind the gun firing wasn't clear. As per the ex-classmates of Cho, he was a loner. He was believed to have a mental-health problem. His situation was more clear when the teacher revealed some of his violent write-ups.

Las Vegas Concert shooting, 2017

While the concert goers were dancing to the performance of music star Jason Aldean in Las Vegas on October 2, 2017, a 64-year-old, retired accountant, Stephen Craig Paddock opened fire from the 32nd-floor room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino hotel. 59 were killed and 527 others were injured. Even after 12 hours after the massacre, bodies covered in white sheets were still being removed from the festival grounds.

In the aftermath of the incidence 40 firearms were seized from the hotel room. As per the police authorities, Paddock was an avid gambler who enjoyed poker.

 According to FBI, Paddock was the most criminal and was likely to be a ' lone wolf' whose motive wasn't clear.

Orlando gay nightclub shooting, 2016

Orlando nightclub which was a patrons' heaven turned into a mourning ground on June 12, 2016. This incident is considered to be the deadliest shootout in the history of LGBT community.

A 29-year-old, Omar Mateen who was from Florida wielding an assault rifle and a pistol and barged into this gay nightclub and carried out this mass shooting, leaving 50 people dead and 53 wounded.

More than 12 hours after the attack, relatives of the victims were seen jam-packing Orlando Regional Medical Center.

As per FBI investigation, he was a lone attacker who hated the LGBT community. In the year 2013, he had said his co-workers that he had terrorist ties. But,  there was no evidence that proved his terrorist connection.

Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, 2012

On December 14, 2012, while children aging 6 and 7 of Sandy Hook Elementary School of Newtown county were playing games, a 20-year-old mentally challenged boy barged in started a massive gunfire.

In less than 11 minutes 26 people, including 20 first-graders students died. Later, the accused took his own life.

As per the FBI reports, the accused was named Adam Lanza, who reportedly had a preoccupation with mass shootings, in particularly the 1999 Columbine massacre. And before heading to the elementary school he killed his mother.

San Diego McDonald shooting, 1984

While children were enjoying with their family in McDonald in the city of San Ysidro in San Diego on July 18, 1984, a, 41-year-old man, James Huberty, fatally shot 21 people and injured 19 others. This shootout mostly included children and teenagers.

As per FBI records, this man was mentally sick and had a medical history. Before living for the McDonald he even said his wife that he was going 'hunting humans'.

Austin, Texas University, 1966

On August 1, 1966, Charles J. Whitman, a 28-year-old engineering student and Marine-trained sniper, took to the University of Texas clock tower in Austin and opened fire, barrage sound lasted 96 minutes killing 14 and wounding 31 others

He was mentally ill and had earlier murdered his mother and wife before he was gunned down by police. Whitman fired at people from his perch on the tower for more than an hour.
